J21 Merida (Uxmal)

On the morning, sadness for Guillaume happiness for Tanja, we did not hear the alarm clock and so we woke up at 8am (I know, it is reaaaaally late!). The truth is that the only bus which was going to Uxmal (1h30 south of Merida) left at 8am. But, no problem for us, we hitch hiked again! This time, new challenge, we were four as our 2 british roomates came with us ("do you have any food?" - private joke)
Uxmal, a really nice maya site, much better than Chichen Itza which was full of tourists and cruisers coming from Cancun! A Mexican guy told us that Chichen Itza is famous as it was discovered thanks to American funds, that also paid for the high way from Chichen Itza to Cancun... money money. Uxmal is much nicer than Chichen Itza. We went there thanks to 3 mexican guys that offered us free cold beers as they had a fridge in their car!
Grasse matinée avec un levé à 8hcar nous n´avons pas entendu le réveil... il nous a fallu faire à nouveau de l´autostop car le seul bus partant pour Uxml (1h30 au Sud de Merida) était à 8h. Cette fois-ci nous étions 4, nos deux colocs de chambre anglais nous ayant rejoints. Nous somme finalement arrivés grâce à un camionette qui aurait pu en contenir 10 comme nous et une voitur déjà bien remplie de 3 mexicains mais avec bières bien fraîches sortant du frigo intégré !
Uxmal est un site qui vaut vraiment le coup, je ne comprenais pas bien pourquoi il y a tant d´allegresse autout de Chichen Itza jusqu´à ce qu´un mexicain m´explique que la remise en état du site avait été réalisée grâce à des fonds américains qui avaient aussi payé pour l´autoroute Cancun-Chichen Itza... ce qui ramène tous les touristes des gros bâteaux de croisière!
